Image Optimisation Checker

Check if your images are properly optimised for Google Discover and social sharing. Validate og:image, schema markup, Twitter cards, and ensure images meet the 1200px width requirement for Google Discover.

Why this matters: Google Discover requires images to be at least 1200px wide. Properly configured images in og:image, schema markup, and Twitter cards improve visibility across Google News, Discover, and social media platforms.

Best Practices

  • Image Dimensions: For Google Discover, your main image must be at least 1200px wide. Larger images (up to 4096px) are also supported and can improve visibility.
  • Multiple Locations: Include your image in all three places:
    • og:image - Open Graph meta tag for Facebook and other platforms
    • twitter:image - Twitter card meta tag
    • image property in your NewsArticle or Article schema markup
  • Image Format: Use modern formats like JPEG or WebP. Ensure images are optimised for web to improve page load speed.
  • Absolute URLs: Always use absolute URLs (starting with https://) for images in meta tags and schema markup.
  • Consistency: Use the same image URL across og:image, twitter:image, and schema markup for consistency.
